Midnattsolen Chapter Norwegian Society of Texas

The Midnattsolen Chapter of the Norwegian Society of Texas serves the Arlington and mid-cities area of the Dallas and Fort Worth Metroplex, offering comprehensive cultural and educational programming for Norwegian heritage enthusiasts. As part of the Norwegian Society of Texas, a tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization established in 1975, Midnattsolen provides genealogical research assistance, historical preservation initiatives, and cultural education to the community. The chapter organizes year-round events including Syttende Mai celebrations, Sankthansaften festivities, Leif Eiriksson Day shrimp boils, and Juletrefest holiday gatherings. Beyond major celebrations, Midnattsolen hosts regular activities such as birthday parties, breakfasts in the park, and membership social events. The organization has facilitated instructional classes in Norwegian language, genealogy research, and traditional Norwegian cooking based on member interest and instructor availability. Members have actively participated in regional cultural events including the State Fair of Texas, Heritage Festival, Viking Festival, West by West Fest, and Folk Life Festival. Membership is open to all individuals who wish to enjoy, preserve, and promote Norwegian heritage, regardless of Norwegian descent. The chapter operates under the governance of the Althing, with locally elected officers managing chapter affairs while maintaining connections to other NST chapters throughout Texas.
